What is Ecstatic & Conscious Dance?

Ecstatic & Conscious Dance is a free-movement practice that allows you to connect with your inner self through music. Unlike traditional dance, there is no choreography, no steps to learn, and no rules about how your movement should look.

It is a space where the music guides your body, giving you complete freedom to express everything that words cannot. It is a return to authenticity and to being consciously present in your own body.

Who is it for?

This practice is open to absolutely everyone who feels the need for movement, relaxation, and a deeper connection with themselves.

There are no limitations in terms of age, physical fitness, or previous dance experience. The only requirement is that participants must be adults (18+).

Whether you are 19 or 69, if you want to release stress and celebrate life through movement – you are welcome.

Why does it matter, and how is it practiced?

We live in a world that constantly encourages us to stay in our heads, analyse, and control. Ecstatic Dance brings us back into the body.

The dance is always practiced in a group, because the shared energy creates a strong and supportive space where individuals can feel safe enough to open up. Through the shared rhythm, we connect on a deeper, human level, knowing that we are sharing a space of freedom without judgment.

Ecstatic & Conscious Dance can take place in a variety of settings – both indoors, in spacious rooms with good acoustics, and outdoors, in nature, under the open sky, where movement becomes intertwined with the elements of earth and air.

Connection with Psychotherapy and Somatic Work

This practice is deeply connected to somatic psychotherapy. Traumatic experiences, stress, and suppressed emotions do not simply disappear – they can remain stored in our muscles and nervous system in the form of chronic tension. Through free movement, we move beyond the rational mind and consciously allow the body to express what it wants to communicate. In this way, we support the body's natural self-healing processes, release emotional blocks, reduce anxiety, and integrate suppressed parts of ourselves through movement and awareness.

Our Space – Guidelines for Participants

To ensure maximum safety, freedom, and presence for everyone, we follow a few clear and simple guidelines:

  • A clear state of awareness (no substances): We arrive completely sober. Alcohol, drugs, and other substances are not permitted, because the intention is to experience our own natural state of ecstasy consciously and fully.
  • We dance barefoot: Shoes are removed at the entrance. Contact between our feet and the floor or the earth helps us ground ourselves and move more freely.
  • No shame, criticism, or self-criticism: This is a space free from judgment. No one is watching you in order to evaluate you. We leave our inner critic at the door.
  • The focus is on free movement: You follow the impulses of your own body, regardless of whether your movement feels unusual, wild, subtle, or minimalist.
  • Listening and merging with the music: The music guides you through waves of different rhythms and emotions – your only task is to surrender to it.
